The Lord designed people to reflect his character in the way they relate to one another. So understanding God's character provides the deepest understanding of abuse as a cosmic distortion of what he made people to be.

Plenary #2 - A Theology of Authority (Jeremy Pierre)
The Lord designed people to inhabit various communities, such as government, churches, and families. God gives leaders authority to direct others according to his purposes in each community. Authority exercised according to God's purposes brings life, but outside God's purposes brings harm.

Plenary #3 - A Theology of Suffering (Darby Strickland)
Domestic Abuse devastates. Making it more heartbreaking is that it is a suffering caused by the evil acts of another. We will look at commonly misapplied passages and put forth a robust theology of suffering that addresses the evil that is perpetuated.

Drawing from scriptural teachings that emphasize peace, reconciliation, and love, we will consider the biblical expectations for nonviolence in the Christian home. By examining biblical wisdom, we will uncover strategies to promote peace and safety in the Christian home.
